The first winter
The outhouse was added real quick like before deer hunting.
Grandma Berger and Ray came to visit
Just a little note here, concerning the toilet seat you see hanging behind the fireplace. It didn't take us long to realize that a trip to the outhouse was hard enough, but even harder was the thought of sitting on that cold toilet seat.
It was decided that a warm seat made the necessary trip so much easier, so we began storing it inside the cabin. With a warm seat to sit on, the cold draft coming through the logs didn't seem quite so bad.
Christmas at the cabin
What a wonderful treat! To set up our snow covered tree, and light the candles as they did in the "olden" days was a site to remember. As the tree slowly warmed up to room temperature, the snow melted and filled up the tree stand. We all enjoyed our first Christmas at the cabin.
Of course our first Christmas deserved a family picture
Once the pictures were taken, it was time to crack open our
bottle of champagne to celebrate.
Of course Jacob had to have some too!
And Becky? She didn't want anything to do with a glass!!!
