WHAT IS COLLOIDAL SILVER?

"Colloidal Silver is nothing more than a small amount of silver molecules suspended in water. Most people use Colloidal Silver as a natural antibiotic and healing agent. Colloidal silver has proven particularly effective in cases of microbial infection. All virus, fungus, bacterium, streptococcus, staphylococcus, and other pathogenic organisms are killed in three or four minutes upon contact. There are no side effects whatsoever from the highest concentrations."

HISTORY OF COLLOIDAL SILVER

In common use prior to the introduction of antibiotics Colloidal Silver was used widely in hospitals and has been known as a bactericide for at least 1200 years.

It is known that in ancient civilization the wealthy stored and ate their food from silver vessels to keep bacteria from growing. The term "Blue Bloods" is said to have come about from royalty eating from silver place settings. American settlers often put silver dollars in milk containers to delay its spoilage.

Not until the late 1800's did western scientists understand what had been known for thousands of years - that silver is a powerful germ fighter!

After scientists and doctors explored the possibilities of using colloids as medicine, the suspension known as "Colloidal Silver" became widely used in medicine as one of the mainstays of anti-microbial treatment. Results showed Colloidal Silver to be highly germicidal, yet harmless and non-toxic to humans. Unfortunately, its fame as a superior infection fighting agent became short lived as new prescription antibiotic drugs became available. Thirty years on, many types of bacteria have acquired immunity to these drugs.

HOW DOES COLLOIDAL SILVER ACTUALLY WORK?

Colloidal Silver is known as an immune enhancer. Silver works by disabling the oxygen-metabolizing enzyme that one-celled bacteria, fungi and viruses use to reproduce themselves. The disease causing pathogen therefore suffocates and dies and is eliminated via the normal channels. Resistant strains have never been known to develop unlike antibiotics which are effective against only about a dozen forms of bacteria and fungi, but never viruses.

Colloidal Silver has been tested and shown to be effective against more than 650 different disease causing pathogens. None of these organisms were found to survive in the presence of minute amounts of silver.

Medical research in the early 1900's indicated that silver is taken up and stored by the kupfer cells in the liver. These same cells are one of the body's defense mechanisms against infection. They could be expected to engulf invading infectious organisms and bring them into intimate contact with their stored silver. This is a different mechanism of defense and it appears there may be some basis for researching silver as a preventative and treatment of infectious disease.

USES FOR COLLOIDAL SILVER

Preventing and Healing Low Grade Infections: According to many colloidal silver researchers, taking sufficient daily colloidal silver can saturate the body such that the germs simply can't gain a foothold. Many people, including many elderly, suffer from a general low- grade body infection that holds back vigor and alertness. They report that using up to an ounce or two of homemade colloidal silver each day often brings about an increase of energy and alertness, as well as enjoying better overall health throughout the year.

Parasite Infections: Some diseases are caused by tiny worm-like organisms that burrow through particular organs and sometimes throughout much of the body. They reproduce by laying eggs. These eggs have the same enzymatic characteristics of all of the other disease- causing organisms that colloidal silver suffocates. So the parasite eggs also suffocate and the parasites can no longer reproduce successfully in your body.

Resistant Strains of Germs: The use of modern man-made antibiotics has increasingly led to mutant strains of germs that the antibiotics can no longer kill. Colloidal silver does not appear to have this problem. Why? Because unlike man-made antibiotics which are basically "bug poison for the human body," colloidal silver is not a poison. Instead, it deals with all germs the same way: it suffocates them by disabling the enzyme they need for respiration.

Accelerated Healing: Colloidal silver reportedly shortens the time for healing to take place in wounds, and lessens the amount of scar tissue. This is apparently due to the beneficial action that colloidal silver has on tissue cells. It seems to cause some of their cell divisions to produce cells that are, in a sense, generic. These generic cells migrate wherever they are needed in the body. They help repair tissue damage by changing into the type of tissue cell needed at the wound in preference to the scar tissue that would normally form.

Diarrhea Diseases: Diseases like cholera, canine parvovirus and other conditions where the disease-causing germ resides mainly in the large intestine have been effectively treated by a different approach. It is difficult for the colloidal silver to get all the way to the large intestine before the body absorbs it if you take the normal daily amount orally. An effective approach is to take large quantities instead (i.e. two ounces or more followed by two big glasses of water). This will allow the colloidal silver to make it all the way into the large intestine so it can very quickly take care of the problem.

INTERNAL USE

Allow the silver to stay in your mouth, swish it around and let it lie under your tongue to promote maximum absorption. It is recommended in the first five days of acute conditions that the 30 ml+ daily dose be split into equal quantities each morning and at night. Following the initial 5 day booster dosage, reduce to 2.5 ml dose daily. The Colloidal Silver may taste a little bitter and metallic.

During the five days increased dosage, it is important to flush the body by drinking at least six large glasses of pure water daily. This assists the elimination channels as pathogens are destroyed.

EXTERNAL USE

Apply directly to cuts, burns, cold sores, open sores and other lesions. Dab on eczema, mosquito bites, acne and dandruff. Colloidal Silver works best when placed in contact with the source of infection. Spray on athletes foot, use as a gargle for sore throats, or as a mouth rinse. Spray on diaper rash. Use as drops in the eyes and ears. For sinusitis, pour some into a plastic or glass container and draw up nostrils alternatively.

Colloidal Silver may also be used as a spray to prevent mildew, to sterilize cooking surfaces and on plant leaves. Remember to store the suspension in dark glass spray containers out of direct sunlight.

ANIMAL USE

Colloidal Silver works well when given as an adjunct to a healthy diet. Silver levels in the body are commonly very low especially in animals contracting illnesses suggesting that our soils are seriously deficient in the mineral.

Colloidal Silver can be used against viral, bacterial and fungal infections and works best when it comes into direct contact with the pathogen for at least 6 minutes. As the disease producing organisms are destroyed they need to be eliminated from the body through normal channels. It is important therefore to make sure the animal you are treating has access to plenty of clean water at all times and is encouraged to drink as much as possible. Some animals will drink water to which Colloidal Silver has been added seemingly knowing it to be beneficial.

Large wounds, abscesses or other skin irritations can be washed or sprayed with Colloidal Silver (plastic spray bottle).

Colloidal Silver can be given alongside drugs recommended by your vet, the overall intention is to regain health and vitality where possible and using the 'best of both worlds' holds good to this intent. Colloidal Silver has shown dramatic results in the case of very young animals such as foals and calves scouring. Given with a syringe twice daily it has the most beneficial effect.

Cats with abscesses may be treated both internally and externally with good results. It has been observed that many animals gain weight and energy following a course of Colloidal Silver suggesting that their general wellbeing is enhanced.

For larger animals such as horses, symptoms such as coughs and colds, hoof abscesses and eye infections respond best by administration of a high dosage for 5 days followed by the daily recommended allowance. For 'Seedy Toe' of the foot, soak cotton wool in Colloidal Silver then clear the debris from the affected part of the hoof as much as possible. Pack the hole with the soaked cotton wool daily until the area granulates with healthy horn tissue.

Also good for over-reach injury in horses and for greasy heel infections - allow the area to be soaked in Colloidal Silver for 6 minutes before applying cream.
